“It’s a Popcorn-Cola film,” said director Dharmesh Darshan at the Music Launch of his eagerly anticipated film ‘Aap Ki Khatir’ at J W Marriot Hotel yesterday. “It is not a classic, no it’s not aimed at being a cult film either. It’s a breezy romantic film that will entertain you and you shall go back home happy,” he added further. Leading stars like Akshay Khanna, Priyanka Chopra, Suniel Shetty, Dino Morea and newcomer Bhumika lent their glittering presence to the gala event. Music Director Himesh Reshammiya couldn’t attend the event as he is away in USA.

An audio visual presentation showcasing the promos of the songs was a rocking affair. The music is very promising. No matter how much the critics may want to pull down Himesh, he continues to Surprise with his energy levels.

Title tracks ‘Aap Ki Khatir’ is a haunting melody and also has an unplugged version where Akshay Khanna mouths a few romantic verses, dance mix ‘I Love You For What You Are’ ensnares your attention in the first listening itself, ‘Tu Hai Kamaal’ has a kick ass dance thunder written all over it, ‘Meethi Meethi Batan’ is the usual suspect in terms of being the bhangra number for the NRI crowd, ‘Afsana’ has an old world charm that merges with the rapper crowd of today, ‘Keh Do Na’ is a melodious-n-catchy romantic ditty with a very catchy hook line and ‘Tu Hi Mera’ doesn’t offer much in terms of novelty value except for Himesh’s high pitched vocals.

The album also boasts of an equal number of club remixes by DJ Akbar Sami. “These are the times to shake a leg. Intensity is passé,” said Dharmesh Darshan. Well…Right!

The well attended event had some big names from the film industry. Adlabs Chief Manmohan Shetty distributed the first copy of the Music CD amongst the stars gathered. Director duo Abbas-Mastan and ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ director Neeraj Vohra were the other notable guests. In the last I would like to mention that the songs have been visually shot…Brilliantly.

And the chemistry between Akshay Khanna and Priyanka Chopra has to be seen to be believed. The setting of London has been presented in a refreshing manner. Let’s wait and watch if Dharmesh Darshan manages to recreate the Box Office magic of ‘Raja Hindusthani’ with ‘Aap Ki Khatir’.
